A prompt is what you write to an AI so it understands what you want it to show. And here's the secret: in 90% of cases when “the AI is being dumb,” the problem isn't the AI. It's the prompt. This article takes 5 minutes to read, and after that, your generations will noticeably improve. No complicated stuff.
The Biggest Mistake: Trying to Sound “Beautiful”
AI doesn't understand words like “beautiful,” “cool,” “8K,” or “masterpiece.” To it, they're just empty noise. It understands specifics: who's in the frame, what they're doing, and what the lighting looks like.
❌ Bad:
beautiful girl, 8K, masterpiece, ultra detailed
✅ Good:
girl with long dark hair, wearing black lingerie, sitting on the edge of a bed, warm light coming from a window on the left
Feel the difference: the first is a wish, the second is an instruction. AI is like a camera operator on set: the more precise the direction, the better the shot.
The Prompt Formula: 6 Questions
Answer these six questions — and your prompt is ready:
- Who? Hair, clothing, body type. Be specific, not just “beautiful.”
- What are they doing? One action: lying down, standing, looking at the camera.
- Where? Bed, shower, hotel, neon lights.
- How is it shot? Close-up, full body, from behind.
- What kind of light? Warm light from the window, neon, dim lighting.
- What shouldn't change? Face, hairstyle, background.
If you don't answer one of these questions, the AI will make the choice for you.
Three Rules That Save 80% of Your Generations
1. Change One Thing at a Time
Want a different face and a different pose and a different background? Do it step by step: face first, then pose, then background.
2. Photos Matter More Than Words
If you upload a photo, the AI pays more attention to it than to your text. So the photo should be clear: the face should be visible, with no sunglasses and no beauty filters.
3. Tell It What NOT to Change
“Make it the same” is weak. “Don't change the face, hairstyle, or lighting” is strong. Specific restrictions are easier for the AI to follow.
How to Write a Prompt for Video
The main rule: don't describe the appearance again. The person, clothing, and lighting are already in the first frame. If you start describing them all over again, the AI may decide they're allowed to change — and the face can start drifting. For video, describe only the movement:
- what the person does — one slow movement: runs a hand through her hair, turns her head, smiles;
- the camera barely moves;
- 4–6 seconds is enough.
✅ Example:
The girl slowly runs her hand through her hair and gives a slight smile. The camera barely moves. 5 seconds. Don't change the face, clothing, or lighting.
That's it. That's a good video prompt.
The Fork: With or Without a Photo
📷 With a photo — the AI will take the face from it. Your job is to describe the scene and say what shouldn't change.
🚫 Without a photo — the AI has nothing except your text. Describe everything using the six questions: who, what they're doing, where, how it's shot, and what the lighting is like.
Ready-to-Use Templates — Just Copy and Fill in the Blanks
With a photo:
Girl in [clothing], [pose], [location]. [Type of] light coming from the [side]. [Framing: close-up / full body]. Don't change the face from the photo.
Without a photo:
Girl with [hair color and length], wearing [clothing], [pose], [location]. [Type of] light coming from the [side]. [Framing: close-up / full body]. Natural skin texture.
For video:
Girl [one slow movement]. The camera barely moves. [4–6] seconds. Don't change the face, clothing, or lighting from the first frame.
Questions & Answers
Why does the face “drift” in video?Three reasons:
the prompt is too long, the movement is too sudden, or the first frame isn't clear enough. The solution: make the video shorter, use less movement, and use a clearer source image.
Why don't “8K, ultra detailed” work? They're empty booster words. Instead, describe something specific: “natural skin texture,” “soft shadows.”
How do I know what exactly to fix?Change one thing at a time and compare the results. Otherwise, you won't know what actually helped.
